Recently, Unity announced that Unity3D is free for Indie developers. Under the direction of Monica McGill, Interactive Media students (Shaun Greiner ’09, Clint McCombs ’10, Brock Norman ’10, and Jeremy Treadwell ’09) developed an iPhone game, infectious, using Unity3D. In addition to the game development, the design and concept for the game originated from the team. In addition to Unity, ProTools, PhotoShop, and Maya were used to create all original sound and art.
The Unity3D environment easily imports both art and sound and uses an object-oriented scripting language for development. It can be downloaded from http://unity3d.com/.
Look for the release of infectious early in 2010.
