Appointment          Full-time; 40 hours per week**

Pay rate                  $13.50 per hour

Open/Close Date   Tuesday, July 9, 2019 – Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

Application Hours  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 1-4 pm; Thursday and Friday, 9-11 am

NOTE** This individual will typically work from 8:00am – 5:00pm, however, there will be times when support of events, productions, repairs, or upgrades take place outside of traditional business hours and this person will be required to work outside of normal hours.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for delivering audio/video operations for academic, administrative, and organizational events specifically in the new $100-million Business and Engineering Complex slated to open in fall of 2019.  This person will provide training, support, and consultation to faculty, staff, and students using audiovisual technology.  This person, while embedded in the Business and Engineering Complex, works collaboratively with the staff of Learning Design and Technology and the broader division of IT to support the daily operations and goals of the units and the strategic initiatives of the University. 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Classroom Support – The Audiovisual Technician provides direct support for faculty, students, and administrative staff in their use of classroom technology. This person responds to and troubleshoots technology problems in collaboration / meeting spaces and computer labs.
  • Live Event Support – The Audiovisual Technician operates equipment in support of live events and supports web conferencing.
  • Training – This individual provides technology training to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Technology Maintenance – This technician preforms testing and preventative maintenance on audiovisual technology.
  • Work collaboratively with other Bradley IT staff to implement services and systems and participate on project teams, committees, and attend meetings as necessary.

In order to meet the needs of the University, the University retains the right to assign duties and requirements to employees, determine and change starting times, quitting times and shifts and change appointment specifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of audiovisual experience; demonstrated relevant knowledge and technical experience in audiovisual technology; proficient in providing training or developing skills of others; demonstrated ability using IP video/web conference services such as Zoom and Skype; proficient in directing a crew and applying appropriate technical knowledge in support of live audiovisual production; demonstrated experience in live audiovisual event support; proficient in using critical thinking skills to effectively troubleshoot and diagnose technology related issues; effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated organization skills, self-direction, and self-motivation.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant instructional/information technology, broadcast, or multimedia discipline and experience with Apple, Windows, and tablet devices.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb up and down ladders and steps; a minimum of 20/20 vision through the use of natural or corrective lenses; ability to identify shades of color and ability to distinguish between varying levels of sound required. Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust.  Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
