Foster College of Business – Teaching Assistant

The Foster College of Business seeks candidates for Teaching Assistants. The Teaching Assistant provides support for faculty teaching large sections of introductory business courses. The Teaching Assistant is dedicated to collaborating with faculty to facilitate student success, responsive to student and faculty requests, self-directed and organized. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment on behalf of course faculty, strong communication skills, administrative and organization skills, and the ability to adjust priorities as needed given academic deadlines and cycles. This is a non-benefit eligible, part-time temporary non-exempt (hourly) position.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Record grades and communicate via course websites and university mechanisms.
  • Coordinate, schedule, arrange and secure locations for review sessions and proctored exams.
  • Respond to student questions (in person, phone, and email) about course content, logistics, and grades.
  • Communicate regularly with course instructors.
  • Establish relationships with college and university staff and faculty to facilitate course effectiveness and individual student success.

Qualifications:

  • College coursework required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and agile in learning new applications
  • Demonstrated administrative skill and customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated understanding of the higher education environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
