July 2018 Business and Engineering Complex Update

It was a busy July at the site of the new Business and Engineering Complex. The structure is reaching higher and higher as crews continue to keep it on schedule and on budget.

It’s a sight to see as the structural steel and metal decking continue to reach towards the sky with the third floor on the east side of the building going up. Closer to the ground, you will see the exterior and interior steel wall studs on the east half of the first floor being constructed, as well as the masonry walls in the basement starting to take shape. Assembly has started for the formwork that ultimately provides a means to pour concrete for the third floor elevated slab. Fire-proofing for the first-floor steel columns and second-floor steel beams have been completed and concrete pours for the second floor elevated slab are finished.

In the coming days, we will begin the electrical work connecting the new building to the existing electrical services, install new storm and sanitary drains along the west side of the building, and put in the new underground steam and chilled water mains.  Mechanical, engineering and plumbing rough-ins and rebar installation for the third floor elevated slab will begin within the next 30 days, as well as the concrete pour for third-floor slab on deck.

The structural steel installation of the fourth floor and roof levels will take place in the next 30 days. You can keep up with the progress through our webcam.  https://www.bradley.edu/webcams/complex/

We gave a sneak peek to our local media in July, here is one of those reports.  http://www.peoriapublicradio.org/post/bradley-gives-sneak-peek-new-building-complex#stream/0
