Professor Named Chemist of Year

Dr. Kurt W. Field has been selected as the 2015 Illinois Heartland American Chemistry Society's Chemist of the Year. He is chairperson of Bradley University's Mund-Lagowski Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry,

Dr. Field received his B.A. degree in chemistry from Hiram College and a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. Following a two-year postdoctoral program at The Johns Hopkins University, he spent four years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as an assistant professor of chemistry. In 1976, he joined the chemistry department at Bradley. In 2007, he received the Charles M. Putnam Award for Excellence in Teaching from the University.

Dr. Christoper Jones, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Bradley says, "I am delighted to learn of this well-deserved recognition. Over the course of his four decades of distinguished teaching, scholarship, service and leadership, Dr. Field's work has elevated chemistry education at Bradley University to a truly impressive level." Dr. Field will be retiring from Bradley in May.

The formal presentation of award will be made at the Local Section’s annual awards banquet, to be held at the Riverfront Gateway building in Peoria on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
