Anti Racist Trainer Discusses U.S. History of Racism

David Billings has spent four decades traveling the country as an antiracist trainer and now brings his message to Bradley University. The former ordained Methodist minister and race historian will discuss his new book “Deep Denial, The persistence of white supremacy in the United States history and life.”

Billings, a Caucasian working-class elder who grew up in Mississippi, says his family rubbed shoulders with the KKK yet never succumbed to the hatred that surrounded them. As part of the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, Billings will share his personal experiences and some historical stories about the racialization of the U.S.

The presentation will take place on Monday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Peplow Pavilion of the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center at Bradley. It is free and open to the public.
