Mid-America Guitar Festival at Bradley in March

Bradley University will host the Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival on March 3, 4, and 5 in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave. The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free for students and $5 for the general public.

The opening concert will feature collegiate groups from the Chicago area, central Illinois and other regions. The Saturday concert, will feature The Mobius Trio out of San Francisco. The Sunday concert will have additional groups performing and a finale with the festival guitar orchestra, who will perform an arrangement of Morten Lauridsen's choral work entitled “Dirait-on.” Harold Greene, the Director of the Peoria Pops Orchestra, is the guest conductor. The festival will end with a premiere of Jeffrey Hoover's new work “Colors of the Soul.”

The Festival first took place at Millikin University in 1991. Guest artists have included the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, the Katona Twins Duo, the Assads, the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, the Australian Guitar Duo, the Canadian Guitar Quartet and many others. The Festival is directed by Bradley affiliate guitar instructor Michael W. Hull.
