The following graduate and undergraduate students received individual honors and recognitions from the Foster College of Business at Bradley University.  

OUTSTANDING GRADUATE STUDENTS

Outstanding Master in Business Administration Student

Each spring, an outstanding MBA student is chosen by a vote of the MBA faculty. Students are chosen on the basis of their academics, service activities, and professional activities.

Outstanding Executive Master in Business Administration Student
Leslie R. Johnson – Canton, IL
The Executive MBA Outstanding Student Award is presented by the EMBA faculty and staff to the EMBA student who has made the most significant academic contribution in the Executive MBA program.

Outstanding Master of Science in Accounting Student
Grant E. McInnis – Dunlap, IL 
The Department of Accounting recognizes an outstanding MSA student for his/her outstanding academic excellence at the graduate level at Bradley University.

Federation of Schools of Accountancy Award
Amy L. Kim – Peoria, IL 
This award, from the Federation of Schools of Accountancy: The Organization of Accredited Graduate Programs in Accounting, recognizes a superior student enrolled in the fifth year of a 150-hour accounting program leading to a post-baccalaureate degree.

Dr. Kalman Goldberg was a distinguished Professor of Economics, Emeritus. His service to the University began in 1952 as an Assistant Professor of Economics. Awards are presented to graduating seniors with outstanding academic performance in the Foster College of Business.

ECONOMICS

Denzil Austin Award
Alexander T. Hughes – Arlington Heights, IL
Denzil Austin was an academically gifted student whose promising career in economics was ended by a tragic, accidental death in 1975. His memory as a warmly regarded individual and as a symbol of the committed and talented student is perpetuated by the Denzil Austin Award. This award is given to a graduating senior with exceptional performance in the economics program.

Robin Linstromberg Award
Ryan M. Williams – Geneseo, IL 
Each year, the Department of Economics pays tribute to Professor Emeritus Robin C. Linstromberg who began his career in 1958 at Bradley University for his contributions as an exacting but sympathetic teacher, mentor and colleague by honoring a student who best exemplifies such scholarly attributes.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP, TECHNOLOGY, AND LAW

James E. Fussell Memorial Award for Scholarship
Daniel J. Hlawek – Springfield, IL
James E. Fussell was a dedicated professor in the Business Management and Administration Department beginning in 1966. Though he only chaired the Department for one year due to his unexpected death in 1973, he was highly regarded as a valued colleague and administrator in the department. This award is given in recognition of academic achievement and is presented by the faculty of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law.

Each person receiving this award has graduated with a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.

Fred Fry Scholarship
Steven M. Tuning – Springfield, IL
Dr. Fred Fry began his career at Bradley University in 1976, was a Professor of Entrepreneurship, and was responsible for establishing the Entrepreneurship major. He taught in the former Business Management and Administration Department for 25 years. The award is given in recognition of academic achievement and the student’s significant contribution and involvement in entrepreneurial activities.

Larry Cornwell Scholarship
Alex C. Lange – Princeton, IL
Dr. Larry Cornwell began his career at Bradley University in 1980 where he established the MIS major, coordinated computer support for the college, and served on committees involving computing. The award is given in recognition of academic achievement, service to the Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law Department, and the potential for significant contribution in the field of management information systems.

Gerald E. Hills Award for Academic Excellence in Entrepreneurship
Katie J. Jousma – Peoria, IL 
Dr. Gerald E. Hills was named the Turner Chair of Entrepreneurship in 2009 in the Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law Department. He was the founder of the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization, a nation-wide organization for Entrepreneurship students. This award is given to the student in the entrepreneurship major with the highest GPA.

Kevin M. Teeven Scholarship
Whitney A. Kuhl – Effingham, IL
This scholarship was created to honor Dr. Kevin M. Teeven who taught law in the Business Management and Administration Department beginning in 1974, for 30 years. Dr. Teeven won the Putnam Award, Bradley’s highest teaching award; he also won the Rothberg Award for Outstanding Scholarship. The Kevin M. Teeven scholarship is awarded to an Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law student, with a concentration in Legal Studies, in recognition of academic achievement, service to the Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law Department, and potential for contribution in the field of management and legal studies.

The award is given in recognition of academic achievement, specifically, the person who has earned the highest GPA among all fall and spring semester graduates majoring in Management and Leadership.

Richard I. Hartman Endowed Scholarship
Lindsey M. Petersen – Prospect Heights, IL
Dr. Richard I. Hartman, Professor of Management, started at Bradley University in 1961 and established the Business Management and Administration Department’s Human Resource Management concentration. He was also Chairperson of the department for 14 years. The award is given in recognition of academic achievement and service to the Management and Leadership Department, and the potential for significant contribution in the field of human resource management.

MARKETING

Rustan Kosenko Academic Excellence Award

The Rustan Kosenko Academic Excellence Award is presented annually in recognition of extraordinary academic achievement. The Kosenko Award is named in honor of the late Dr. Rustan Kosenko, an outstanding marketing scholar, educator, and colleague. Dr. Kosenko began his career at Bradley University in 1988. The award is presented each year to the senior marketing major with the highest cumulative GPA.

The Paul E. Arney Outstanding Marketing Student Award
Brianna E. Karls - Minnetonka, MN
The Paul E. Arney Outstanding Marketing Student Award is named in honor of the late Professor Paul E. Arney. Professor Arney’s relationship with Bradley University spanned four decades beginning in 1957, during which time he dedicated himself to providing an outstanding educational experience for Bradley Marketing. The Arney Award is presented annually to a senior Marketing major in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, interpersonal skills, and professional potential.

The Procter & Gamble Sales Scholarship
Taylor L. Maloney – Morton, IL
The Procter & Gamble Sales Scholarship is funded by Procter & Gamble. This scholarship is given annually to a junior or returning senior marketing major who has exhibited both academic excellence and an interest in pursuing a career in sales. The scholarship is intended to enhance interest and professional skills development in sales.
