100% Pass Rate on National Testing for Nursing Students

February 11, 2016

The Department of Nursing at Bradley is celebrating a 100% pass rate by students on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). This is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses. There were 78 students comprised of May graduates and the August accelerated graduates who took the test and 100% passed. This is the first time that has happened since 2003.

NCLEX is a standardized exam that each state board of nursing uses to determine whether or not a candidate is prepared for entry-level nursing practice. The NCLEX tests application and analysis using the nursing knowledge students learned in school but also tests them on how they can use critical thinking skills to make nursing judgments.

Cindy Brubaker, Chairperson of the Department of Nursing, says Bradley is one of only two baccalaureate nursing programs in the state to achieve the 100 percent pass rate in 2015. "We are very proud of our graduates. Their success is a reflection of their commitment to learning and to the dedication of our excellent faculty and staff. This achievement confirms that Bradley University is preparing highly qualified novice nurses for the nursing profession."

National pass rate of NCLEX is 85% and the Illinois pass rate is 86%.

Bradley University offers undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The program prepares graduates for entry-level RN positions in primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare settings and for entry into graduate studies that lead to advanced degrees in nursing.
