"Chee Hyeon Choi & Friends" Recital

Bradley University faculty member Chee Hyeon Choi will present a recital, titled "Chee Hyeon Choi & Friends," on Saturday, February 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is free.

The recital is a chamber format that will include Choi's colleagues Drs. John Orfe (piano) and Kyle Dzapo (flute), Lisette Kielson (flute), Mrs. Barbara Hedlund (cello) and Dr. Sun-Young Gemma Shin (violin).  

The program will feature ensemble works and solo work which includes piano four-hands pieces of Saint-Saëns’ Le carnaval des animaux (The Carnival of the Animals), Schubert’s Lebensstürme op. 144; Kuhlau’s Trio for Piano and two flutes, op. 119, movements of Couperin’s Les goûts-réunis, ou Nouveaux concerts No. 7 and Piazzolla’s piano trio, Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

Chee Hyeon Choi has been a piano faculty member at Bradley University in Peoria since 2013. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) for the Music Teachers Association, Dr. Choi is the Competition Chair of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA) and also the state chair of the collegiate chapters. Her most recent performances include lecture solo recitals at Georgia Gwinnett College (Lawrenceville, GA), Illinois Central College, and Dingeldine Music Center. She gave presentations at the annual convention of the ISMTA, and Korean Piano Pedagogy Association in 2015 and Peoria Area Music Teachers Association in 2016. She has studied piano with Drs. Ian Hobson and William Heiles, piano pedagogy with Dr. Reid Alexander and Dr. Christos Tsitsaros. She also served on the piano faculty for ISYM piano camps in 2007-2012 and 2015 and also taught at the Millikin University High School piano camp in 2012. She founded the Bradley University summer piano camp in 2014.
