Rockets and Robots to Celebrate STEM Day

STEM education is vitally important today and to highlight its importance, Bradley is hosting a STEM celebration day on Saturday, April 14th. It is sponsored by the Bradley Center for STEM Education. There will be a number of activities including rocket launches and robotic activities throughout the day that the public is invited to attend.

Bradley's Center for STEM education has invited a nationally-known STEM speaker to campus for the past 6 years. Co-Director Dr. Kevin Finsen says this helps highlight the role of STEM education in today's world. "Each of our speakers is asked to share something about their life, education, interests, what they are doing in their careers now, and how STEM has been a critical factor in their careers. This is an outreach program to get the community more connected with and interested in STEM -- whether as a vocation or hobby."

The Center for STEM Education has been created to improve education, career opportunities and literacy in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. Bradley strives to develop programs that challenge and advance learning and teaching in STEM fields and provide educational opportunities and training for the next generation of STEM educators, STEM professionals, and STEM-literate citizens.

There is no registration required for STEM Day and anyone is welcome to participate. The only cost associated with the program is the cost to get into the Peoria Riverfront Museum for the activities that will be held there. The schedule of events is listed below. Media is invited to cover any or all of the activities. Dr. Finson will be the contact for the events on campus and is reachable at 309-357-0513.
