Bradley New Music Concert Debuts Student-Written Music

The Spring 2018 New Music Concert, under the direction of Dr. John Orfe, will take place on Monday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave. The concert is free and open to the public.

This concert marks the debut performance of multiple works written through the Pocket Concerto Project. This project required students in Dr. Orfe’s Applied Composition lessons to compose original music for the faculty new music ensemble, Peoria Lunaire.

The student-written compositions include works for five trumpets, flute and guitar, string trio, guitar trio with marimba, mixed chamber ensemble and solo pieces for violin and saxophone. Student composers include Mason Boore, Cole Faulstich, Conner Wittman, Reid Chapman, Christian Sauder, Mary Bausman and Christopher Packett.

Peoria Lunaire consists of faculty Marcia Henry Liebenow, Lisette Kielson, Sarah Hansen, David Cyzak and John Orfe. They will share the stage with faculty Kyle Dzapo, Michael Hull, Keith Zimmerman, as well as alumna Kelsey Klopfenstein and Presser Scholar Molly Wilson.

Music by established composers Augusta Read Thomas and Jeffrey Hoover will also be featured.
