Bradley’s Trumpet Day Features Acclaimed Guest Artist

The Bradley Jazz Ensemble will perform with acclaimed jazz trumpeter Rob Parton for the university’s third annual Trumpet Day on Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

75 area high school and junior high school trumpet players will attend Trumpet Day, which will feature clinics, rehearsals and performances throughout the day. Dr. Todd Kelly is the director of the ensemble. Rob Parton, Andy Empey and Justin Bainter will also work with participants. All students will take part in a mass trumpet ensemble that will perform in the evening concert. Mr. Parton’s appearance will be the grand finale of Trumpet Day.

Rob Parton is well known as a trumpet artist, performer and bandleader. Parton has been the Associate Professor of Trumpet at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio since fall 2010. He was also recently appointed the Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra.
