Former U.S. Army Band Leader Conducts High School Honor Band

Colonel (ret) Thomas Palmatier will conduct the 33rd Annual Bradley University High School Honor Band on Tuesday, April 24th at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave. Admission is $5 for adults and free to students.

This performance will feature 90 of the top instrumental students from 38 Central Illinois High Schools. The Bradley Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. David Vroman, will open the performance. 

The purpose of this band is to provide high school students with the opportunity to perform with their peers in an Honor Band situation and encourage them to remain a part of their band program. Students are selected based on their past musical accomplishments.

Colonel Thomas Palmatier culminated a distinguished military career spanning more than 37 years as the Leader and Commander of The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the largest military music unit in the United States and was the senior musician in the U.S. Armed Forces.
