Guitar Ensemble Recital May 1

The Bradley University Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Michael W. Hull, will give a recital on Sunday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Ensemble will perform works by Morley, Faure, Czech composer/guitarist Stepan Rak, Paul Hindemith and more.  The group contrasts the lighthearted Morley madrigals entitled Sing We and Chant it and April is in My Mistress' Face with the haunting and lyrical Pavane, by Gabriel Faure.  Hindemith's Rondo for Three Guitars stands alone as the composer's only work for the classical guitar while Rak's Four Moods is one of his many diverse contributions to the instrument's literature.

While the ensemble specializes in presenting small chamber group arrangements and works for guitar, soloists are also featured on the program. In addition, there are guest appearances by Mr. Hull's children, Evelyne and Nikolai, who have extensive performance experience through the Childbloom Guitar Program.
