Bradley Nursing Celebrates High NCLEX Pass Rate, Announces New Initiatives
Bradley University’s Nursing Program continues to demonstrate excellence, achieving a 97% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in 2024 — the highest in the past five years. This milestone reflects the program’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers in nursing through innovative initiatives and high-quality education.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and faculty for their hard work and dedication in achieving this outstanding pass rate,” said Dr. Kathy Shapley, Interim Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences. “This success is a testament to the rigorous academic and clinical training that our nursing program provides.”
Looking to build on this success, Bradley’s Nursing Program has secured a grant from the Illinois Board of Higher Education to further support student achievement. The grant will fund a new academic assessment program to evaluate first-year students' academic foundations, and provide enhanced support in critical areas such as medical terminology, medication math, and anatomy and physiology.
“This initiative will allow us to better support our students from the very beginning of their nursing education,” said Rachel Borton, Chair of Bradley’s Nursing Program. “By strengthening their foundational knowledge, we aim to improve academic performance, increase retention rates, and better prepare students for the challenges of nursing coursework.”
In addition to academic advancements, students are also benefiting from innovative technology and resources in the classroom. New pediatric simulation offerings provide students with both infant and adolescent simulations during their coursework. These enhanced simulations allow students to develop their clinical skills across a broader spectrum of pediatric care, ensuring they are well-prepared for real-world nursing challenges.
“These new opportunities are designed to give our students a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience that prepares them for the diverse and evolving healthcare landscape,” added Borton.
Bradley University remains committed to innovation and excellence in nursing education, ensuring that its graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers and make meaningful contributions to the health care industry.
