Student Launches Gaming Fundraiser While Studying in Hollywood

December 3, 2018

Junior game design student, Ashlye Kaczmarek from East Peoria, IL is taking her experience in Bradley University's Hollywood Semester and turning it into an experience for everyone to enjoy. During the Hollywood Semester, students live in Los Angeles and participate in internships with industry professionals. As part of her experience, Ashlye organized the Mercy's Wings Fundraiser Tournament to benefit the Bianca Foundation.

Kaczmarek is the proprietor of AshuriiYuki Productions, a small art, and video game studio in Peoria, IL. Her studio sponsored a charity gaming tournament at PlayLive Nation in the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA to benefit, the Bianca Foundation.  tHis foundation educates and empowers teens by providing them with tools to become successful in all areas of their lives and assisting them with their mental health.

The entry fee was $15 to watch the tournament pitting Bradley University students against Syracuse students who are also studying in the LA area. Those not able to attend in person were able to watch the competition at twitch.tv/ashuriyuki. In addition to competing for a custom trophy, the teams also competed to see who can raise the most money to benefit the Bianca Foundation.

Kaczmarek said, "While we were in Hollywood studying the entertainment industry, we decided we wanted to use our time to bring awareness and support, both financially and in other ways, to this amazing non-profit foundation."

Donations are still being accepted on either PayPal at or squareup.
