Bradley Speech Team Captured its 18th Consecutive State Championship

The Bradley University Speech Team captured its 18th consecutive State Championship at Illinois Central College this past weekend. 22 colleges and universities competed for the state crown reaffirming the strength of collegiate forensics in the state of Illinois.

Bradley scored 353 points besting Illinois State University (211), Northwestern University (104), North Central College (96), and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (41) rounding out the top five programs in the state. In addition to the team title, Bradley brought home five individual state championships as well.

All in all, the weekend was an amazing showcase of talent and unity as the teams in the state prepare for nationals. Individual state champions listed below:

Impromptu Speaking State Champion- Annie Schuver (Sr.) Organizational Communication Major from Chesterfield, MO
Informative Speaking State Champion- Matt Friedhoff (Jr.) Organizational Communication Major from Wooster, OH
Duo Interpretation State Champions- Matt Friedhoff (Jr.) and Greg Huber (Jr.) Business Management Major from Omaha, NE
Poetry Interpretation State Champion- Kory Turner (Fr.) Political Science Major from Middleboro, MA
