Chicago Tribune Investigative Reporter Visits Bradley to Discuss the Reign of Michael Madigan
March 22, 2022
The fall from grace of one of the nation’s most prominent state legislators is making headlines across the country. Michael Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1983 to 2021 (except for a two-year gap), was charged earlier this month for a multimillion-dollar racketeering and bribery scheme.
Chicago Tribune investigative reporter and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Ray Long will visit Bradley's campus to present his findings and thoughts regarding Madigan's reign. His new book, "The House That Madigan Built: The Record Run of Illinois' Velvet Hammer," which draws on four decades worth of observing state government in providing a definitive political analysis of Madigan, is set to be released March 22.
This presentation will take place Monday, April 18, at 6 p.m. in Bradley's Michel Student Center Ballroom. A book signing will take place at 5:30 p.m. Participation is $10 for Bradley's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members and $15 for the general public. To register, please visit bradley.edu/olli or call (309) 677-3900.
