MSCS concert will feature Women’s Choir

The Bradley University Women's Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kerry Walters, will present the final concert of the 2015-16 Music Scholarship Concert Series on Sunday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker. Admission is free for students and $10 for the general public.

The program will feature a variety of choral music for treble voices including several world music pieces from Russia, China and Israel. Rounding out the program will be several selections from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s iconic musical South Pacific.

Pianist, Dr. Tatiana Shustova, and string students Billy Akers and Julie Haring will join the group for an arrangement of the spiritual, Deep River, and a piece recorded by Celtic Woman, titled The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun. Voce Femine, a chamber ensemble from the larger choir also will perform.

The Women's Choir was established in 1990 to provide women at Bradley with the opportunity to sing music especially written for treble voices in an atmosphere of collegial and congenial music making.

Dr. Walters is Associate Professor of Music at Bradley where she also teaches voice, music education, and conducts the Bradley University Opera Workshop. Tatiana Shustova serves as staff accompanist for the Department of Music.

All revenue from the Music Scholarship Series Concerts goes to fund scholarships. Tickets will be available at the door the afternoon of the performance.
