June 2018 Business and Engineering Complex Update

June 14, 2018

There won't be a summer break for the Business and Engineering Complex construction project. Although there has been a substantial amount of rain lately and intense heat, the construction activities continue to progress.

During the past 30 days, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work have continued in the basement level. Structural steel, metal decking, and concrete flooring have been poured on the east side of the second floor of the building. Additional behind the scenes activity includes the delivery and rough-in of two large chillers, housed in the Renaissance Coliseum, that will be utilized for cooling needs.

During the next 30 days, we will continue to see the installation of structural steel which will rise above Burgess Hall. Steel stud installation will start on the lower levels of the east half of the building. Installation of the new steam and chilled water piping system will begin underground on the south side of the building, as well as the installation of new storm and sanitary piping on the west side of the building.
