Bradley Symphonic Winds Present the Royal Sounds of Denmark

The Bradley University Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. David Vroman and guest conductor Dr. Peter Ettrup Larsen, will present Royal Sounds of Denmark on Sunday, February 25 at 3 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Ave. Tickets are $5 for adults, free to students and may be purchased in advance by calling 309.677.2650.

The concert will include three Danish Salute marches. King Frederik VII’s Salute March (the founding father of Royal Danish Salute Marches); King Frederik IX’s Salute March (the present Queen’s father who was a formidable conductor himself) and Queen Margrethe II’s Parade March (the present Queen’s official march). Music by famed Danish composers Carl Nielsen and H.C. Lumbye will be included along with new music written by Soren Hyldgaard.

Peter Ettrup Larsen first came to Bradley as the 2002 Slane Scholar in Residence, teaching classes and working with students. Today, he has an international career as a freelance conductor for bands and orchestra. He has recorded CDs with several orchestras and taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Sibelius School of Music in Finland and, presently, at the University of Stavanger, Norway.
