The Smith Career Center is pleased to host the Soft Skills Symposium, a FREE two-day conference for students and Bradley community members. The symposium will be held March 27-28, 2019 in the Michel Student Center. A nationally-recognized keynote speaker and local presenters will focus on the importance of developing soft skills. Students will be encouraged to attend presentations that fit their schedule.

Our Keynote Speaker Lindsey Pollak is widely recognized as an expert on the multigenerational workplace. She is a New York Times bestselling author of Becoming the Boss: New Rules for the Next Generation of Leaders and Getting from College to Career: Your Essential Guide to Succeeding in the Real World. Lindsey will provide a keynote presentation at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, March 27 and a workshop at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 28. Both presentations will focus on the importance of developing soft skills for the workplace.

The symposium will feature:

  • Employer-led breakout sessions
  • Interactive practice workshops
  • Networking reception with keynote speaker and employer representatives
  • Luncheon speaker, Brigadier General Jason L. Walrath will discuss critical skills needed for leadership. Dr. Robert Prescott, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, will facilitate round table discussions.
  • Soft skills certificates for students that attend three or more presentations
