After four years of dedicated service to the university, President Gary R. Roberts '70 has announced he will retire from the presidency next May. We are forever grateful for his steady and encouraging leadership, and the many contributions he and his wife, Donna Carr Roberts, made to the university and greater Peoria community. We hope and trust they will remain involved with Bradley for many years.
We now look forward to recruiting President Roberts' successor — someone able to build on the progress and growth of the past four years, leading the university to continued successes going forward. We are launching a national search for a new president, and in our quest to find superb candidates for this singular role, we welcome your suggestions and nominations.
The Board of Trustees has appointed Bill Funk, president of R. William Funk & Associates, to work with the search committee and the board to assist in the selection of our new president.
Bradley University will always be grateful for your support and help. If you have questions, suggestions or concerns, please contact either of us directly. To make a nomination, please email correspondence to the search firm at email@example.com.
As Bradley University evolves to meet a changing — and challenging — educational landscape, the Board of Trustees is honored to guide the search for a new leader. We will share updates with you here as our search progresses.
The Honorable James E. Shadid '79, Vice Chair,
and Kathi Holst '79, Secretary Presidential Search Committee Co-Chairs
December 18, 2019 An Update from the Search Committee Co-Chairs
As the end of the semester draws near, we would like to provide an update on the search for Bradley’s next president. The search committee is dedicated to finding the best leader for our institution, and we want to thank all of those on the committee for their hard work thus far.
We received nearly 100 applications from highly successful individuals from across the nation, and indeed from around the world.
The search committee narrowed the candidate list to 20 individuals. Further information is being gathered on those individuals, and the committee will meet again in January and narrow that list to 8-10 candidates. We will interview these candidates face-to-face in mid-January and recommendations will be made to the board of trustees for further discussion.
Our goal is to choose an individual we believe will succeed in carrying out our mission and vision to the highest level, and we will do everything we can to achieve that goal.
We are committed to Bradley and we thank you for your continued dedication to this institution. Have a great holiday season.
