Areas of Focus

Writing Focus

(Oratory, SOS, INFO)

Here, you’ll work with college coaches and faculty to enhance your writing. By the time you’redone, you’ll walk away with a variety of tips and tools for crafting speeches, papers and creative works. The first week is dedicated strictly to content with the second week offering delivery practice as well. We cover all major public address high school speech events, plus techniques for cover letter & essay writing, creative and humorous writing, narrative storytelling and more.

We also cater to students looking to improve their writing and storytelling for future careers.

Performance Focus

(Prose, HI, Poetry, POI, DUO, DI)

In the performance focus, you’ll learn strategies from seasoned and celebrated college coaches that have found success in speech and acting. Their curriculum walks you through the in-depth process of building realistic and compelling characters. For the first week, you’ll focus on script selection and cutting, character building and mapping, along with blocking and choreography. Then, in the second week, we’ll tackle emotional subtext, authenticity and DOWNLOAD FLIER polishing performances through practice. All high school interpretative speech events are covered along with additional training in stage presence, choreography & blocking, and more.Theatre students are also welcome!

Research Focus

(EXT, IMP, Radio)

If you want to learn educational, winning strategies for researching topics in the digital age, then this is your area of focus. Our curriculum provides an overview of major domestic and international topics ranging from politics and the economy, to policy issues impacting marginalized communities. You’ll leave camp feeling confident researching any topic and organizing and presenting information. In the first week, you’ll hone in on knowledge building and research strategies. For the second week, you apply these lessons to a specific topic of your choosing and receive delivery coaching. All high school limited prep events are covered, along with additional instruction for research paper writing, persuasion and argumentation, and more.

This focus is also ideal for college bound students looking to become better at speaking with limited preparation and learning in-depth research strategies.
