Student COVID-19 Update

Here we are, almost at the end of the semester. As you gear up for finals, we want to wish you luck, and we thank you for your patience throughout. We truly miss you and look forward to having you back in the fall! Here are the latest updates regarding campus operations and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pass/Fail

As a reminder, you will be able to make your decision on converting any grades to pass/fail after your final grades have been submitted. You will have three (3) business days (Monday, May 18, at 8 a.m. CDT until Wednesday, May 20, at 5 p.m. CDT) to make the election.

Faculty and staff will reach out to students by phone prior to Monday, May 18 in an effort to assist you in understanding the implications of selecting pass/fail grades as it relates to financial aid, athletic eligibility and other academic requirements. If you have any questions or concerns, more information is available at bradley.edu/passfail, including a form you may complete to request a call from specific offices on campus.

CARES Act

Bradley will distribute funds from the CARES Act - Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds, based on criteria created by the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are for direct distribution to our students and will follow a two step approach.

  1. A one-time $400 grant for incurred expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Funds will be distributed to all eligible students. Eligibility details can be found here. Eligible students do not need to apply for the $400 grant.
  2. Bradley will also make additional grant funds available for eligible students. This second distribution will require eligible students to complete an application that provides documentation of additional, extraordinary one-time expenses. These expenses must be directly related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. These grants will be capped at $2,600 per student and are available until the funds have been exhausted.

All eligible students should have received an email earlier today with the pertinent details. Visit the website for more details.

Commencement

On May 15-16 we will celebrate our graduates. Unfortunately, it won’t be in person as we all hoped. We’ve created several videos, including the traditional “Last Lecture” and one from President Roberts, who will perform a conferral of degrees to make Commencement official. There is also an interactive toolkit complete with Instagram GIF stickers, Zoom backgrounds, printable signs, Facebook frames, Augmented Reality filters and a Spotify playlist our graduates can use to share their Bradley experience proudly. Follow Bradley’s Facebook page on social media to participate in the activities. Graduating seniors should have received an email yesterday with all of the details for the celebration. For questions, please contact Alison Morrissey at amorrissey@fsmail.bradley.edu

Move Out

Have you scheduled a time to move out of the residence hall or  SAC yet?  Move out began May 1 and the deadline of May 25 for being out of SAC or St. James will be here soon. There are also requirements and limitations for the move out process, so be sure to pay attention to the guidelines emailed to you last week.

As you sign-up to move out of your residence halls this coming week, remember these move-outs should not interfere with your final exam schedule. You are allowed to reschedule your move-out day/time so there will be no conflict.

Textbook Returns

If you rented books from the bookstore, you will receive emails reminding you to return your rentals. The email will have a link to the bookstore website where you will be able to print a UPS label for the returns.

Library Returns

You will have until August 26 to return any checked out items to the library. Up until this date, there will be no fines for any late items. If you’re on campus, you may return any  items through the exterior drop box at the library or mail them to Cullom-Davis Library, 1501 West Bradley Avenue, Peoria, IL 61625. If you do mail back the book(s), please keep the receipt in case the package gets lost in transit.

Student Workers Key Return

If you are a student worker and have a key(s) to a building, you should return the key(s) to MacMillan Hall. If you will not be on campus, please tape the key(s) securely to an index card or piece of cardboard and send it/them in a padded envelope to: Bradley University - Facilities, c/o Jayne Dant, 1501 W Bradley Ave., Peoria, IL 61625. Please note: if you do not use a padded envelope your key will not make it back to the university. The postal machines will most likely rip the envelope and the key will fall out when being processed.

We will continue to communicate with you over the summer, even if not on a weekly basis. Continue to check your Bradley email for important information. Study and prep hard for those finals and final projects. We will see you in the fall!
