Curriculum Development, Classroom Materials, and Evaluation/Assessment Instruments

ICSS seeks proposals from its members who require funding to develop special projects and activities relating to the goals and objectives of social studies education.

Proposals should be no more than two typed pages and should include the following information: Title, Description of Project Goal(s), Timeline of Procedures/Activities, Participants, Budget, and Short Plan for Evaluation after Completion of the Project.

Grants will be available from September 2012 through June 2013. Grants may range in size from $100 to $200 with an average award of $150.

Proposals should be submitted by May 30, 2012. Recipients will be notified by June 30, 2012.

Proposals will be evaluated by peer review using the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the professional development of social studies teachers;
  • Development of new knowledge about history and the social sciences, with particular applicability to elementary, middle, and high school teachers; and
  • Publication of innovative approaches and developments in social studies education.

Winners of grants must express a willingness to describe their projects and activities at a future ICSS annual meeting.
