About Us

The English Club is the student organization for English majors and minors, for Education majors with concentrations in English, and for anyone on campus who loves literature, language, and writing.  We are open to all Bradley students:  those who have declared a major, minor or concentration are members automatically. Students outside the English department can apply to join.

We work together with Sigma Tau Delta, the honors society in English, to promote fellowship and community among those who love literature and writing and to foster literacy and love of literature to the community beyond Bradley.

Together, we sponsor a variety of programs ranging from mentoring our new majors and career workshops, to mixers with faculty, to programs that are just meant to spread the word about our program in fun ways -- like our "Literary Trick-or-Treat" Hallowe'en event.   We also extend our reach to helping others.  For example, along with Sigma Tau Delta, we are partnered with "Look! It's My Book!"  This organization is dedicated to putting a book into the hands of every child in Peoria, and we are pledged to help with their book distributions.  We also help with an annual book drive through "Better World Books" that benefits "Room to Read."

By working on these events as a chair or committee member, our members gain valuable experience, even as they form friendships -- and all while spreading our love of the written word.
