Connect with the Entrepreneurship Community

Starting a new business can be challenging, so it’s important to meet others to share experiences. We are fortunate to have a number of ways to connect with the entrepreneurship community outside of Bradley University.

1 MILLION CUPS Peoria

Meet other entrepreneurs as they present their business ideas and startup journeys. It is a great way to learn from others and support your growth. 1 Million Cups was started in 2012 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation with a goal of breaking down the barriers for individuals seeking to start and grow their business.

Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (GPEDC)

The GPEDC has a long history of supporting innovation and startups. They host Startup Greater Peoria which helps to support local entrepreneurs and innovators. The GPEDC also offers co-working space through The Nest. And soon, the GPEDC and partners will be opening the Peoria Innovation Hub with a focus on food, farming, and autonomous mobility along with other resources.

Minority Business Development Center

The Minority Business Development Center offers a business incubator, education & programs, and services. The center was created to help the minority community fulfill their dream of starting their own business while supporting the economic health of our local communities. The center focuses on minorities, women, and veterans, but their services are available to everyone.

Peoria Innovation Alliance

The Peoria Innovation Alliance is focused on championing innovation and entrepreneurship by helping to promote Central Illinois’ history of innovation and empower other innovators and entrepreneurs. Their website features local stories of innovation and a link to sign up for news and updates.

The Peoria chapter of SCORE is part of a national SBA funded non-profit organization that mentors entrepreneurs using volunteers from the Peoria and Bloomington area. SCORE has experienced business practitioners with skills in specific industry. Be sure and take advantage of an opportunity to get a new perspective on your business startup.

Other Central Illinois Economic Development Organizations

Many local economic development organizations and cities support entrepreneurship through access to city and local services, and networking events.

All of these resources are well known to the staff of the Turner Center for Entrepreneurship.  Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to schedule a meeting with an adviser.
