Biography

Dillon Ward is an Assistant Professor of Media Production in the Department of Communication. He earned his MFA in Studio Art (Video and Virtual Reality Emphasis) from the University of Kentucky in 2023 and a B.A. in Storytelling Traditions in Cinema, Art, Literature and New Media from Western Kentucky University in 2014.

His creative work focuses on the intimate and alienated relationship we have with the digital world. His short films have screened at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, Visions in the Nunnery biennial (London), NoBudge.com, the Maryland Film Festival, the Austin Film Festival, the Chicago Underground Film Festival, Indie Memphis, and the Nashville Film Festival. His short screenplays have been recognized by the Slamdance Short Screenplay Competition, the Nashville Film Festival Screenplay Competition, the Screencraft Short Film Production Grant, and the Page International Screenwriting Awards.

In the film industry, Dillon has held a variety of positions. He has worked as a day player Production Assistant on the films Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and 21 Jump Street, as an Assistant to the VP of Development at Scott Rudin Productions, and as a Co-Producer/Co-Director on commercials for companies like Motorola and Country Crock.
