Mia Anderson Long

Dr. Mia Long Anderson is an Associate Dean and Professor in the College of Arts and Media at Sam Houston State University. Her research interests include communication and sport, communication and race, and the intersection of communication, race, and sport. Her research has been featured in the Journal of African American Studies, the Journal of Sports Media, and the Journal of Contemporary Athletics. Dr. Anderson currently serves on the Board of Commissioners for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), which oversees the accreditation of sport management programs at colleges and universities. She holds a doctorate in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Tennessee (Broadcasting), and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Advertising) from the University of Georgia.
