Biography
Since earning a B.S. in Sociology from Florida A&M University and later his M.S. degree in Leadership and Human Service Administration from Bradley University, I worked in various leadership positions, including stints at the Central Illinois Agency on Aging and EP!C. However, in 2008 I shifted my career focus towards higher education and began the doctorate program at Illinois State University.
After successfully defending my dissertation titled: Racial Stereotype Threat: A Critical Discourse Analysis, I graduated in 2016 with a Ph.D. in Higher Education. My research interests include social justice and those issues that pertain to African Americans and higher education. In addition to currently serving as the Online Program Director at Bradley University, I have taught graduate-level courses within the counseling program and higher education doctorate program within Bradley University's ECL department.
In addition, I have received the Odessa Meyer Endowed Scholarship for Underrepresented Groups for my dissertation. I am also the recipient of the 2005 Bradley University Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development ELH Exemplary Alumni Award for Community Service. I have also presented my research at the Mid-Western Educational Research Association.
I am also a regular contributor to the Community Word Newspaper, where my focus is on current events and social justice.
