Biography

James' comes to Bradley University with a diverse background within the helping profession. James currently serves as an instructor at the University Wisconsin-La Crosse's Psychology Department and has worked in a variety of settings which include: schools, a domestic violence shelter, WrapAround Milwaukee, mentoring, and residential treatment facilities. These experiences forged a path that has led to becoming a therapist, which then evolved into serving as an educator.

James enjoys spending time getting lost in a good book. He enjoys reading works by Don Winslow and Michael Connelly. James also enjoys lifting weights and watching basketball. Additionally, James enjoys spending time with his wife and their three boys building Legos, watching Modern Family, and going on walks together.

Teaching

James is currently teaching the Practicum and Internship courses, along with Theories and Techniques and the Consultation course. James is fascinated to watch learns begin to connect the dots and put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Scholarship

James completed his dissertation exploring the lived experiences of mental health professionals working on juvenile drug treatment court teams. Additionally, James works as a faculty member for the National Association for Drug Court Professionals.

Service

James has served as a presenter for a variety of conferences and trainings with various specialty treatment court agencies such as the National Association for Drug Court Professionals, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the National Association for School Resource Officers, and the National Center for State Courts.
