Dr. Jacqueline Henderson joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the fall of 2010 asan assistant professor. Her interest in upper extremity biomechanics during music execution led to a research fellowship funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) – National Research Service Award(NRSA) Training Grant in the Orthopedic Biomechanics laboratory at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr.Henderson uses mathematical modeling to understand the subsynovial connective tissue shearing and the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. As an assistant professor Dr. Henderson has continued her research interest by collaborating with Bradley University faculty and the local medical community. These collaborations are instructional and research oriented. Her research interests include: (1) upper extremity skeletal biomechanics with respect to cumulative trauma disorders and rehabilitation, (2) Cumulative trauma disorders and (3) Mathematical modeling of human carpal tunnel.
She has used her passion in engineering to work with students in the Detroit Public School system ( NSFGK-12 fellow) and participated in various engineering summer programs while a graduate student. Dr.Henderson continues to mentor youth interested in STEM fields.
