Musical Theatre Minor

The interdisciplinary, 20-hour Musical Theatre Minor is open to all students by audition and offers a thorough grounding in the fundamental elements of acting and vocal technique, ear training/sight singing, history of the genre, and interpretation of songs from a range of eras and styles. Students will develop a systematic personal practice for approaching the work of the musical theatre performer.

  • THE 115: Fundamentals of Acting - 3 hrs.
  • THE 207: Theatre Practicum - .5 hrs.
  • THE 208: Theatre Practicum - .5 hrs.
  • THE 314 Acting the Song - 3 hrs.
  • THE 339 History of American Musical Theatre - 3 hrs.

  • MUS 140 Piano for Adult Beginners - 1 hrs.
  • MUS 161 Music Theory 1 - 2 hr.
  • MUS 164: Ear-Training and Sightsinging - 2 hr.
  • MUS 309 Resonant Fusion (Contemporary music ensemble) - 2 hrs.
  • APL 397 Applied Voice Lessons - 3 hrs.
