Bradley Student Named Illinois Student Laureate
November 4, 2020
The Lincoln Academy of Illinois announced its annual class of Illinois Student Laureates. Representing Bradley this year is Jacob D. McGiles, a senior, health science major from Jacksonville, Illinois. He is very active within the Bradley campus community, including being a Bradley Student Aide and Student Aide Coordinator, University Homecoming Coordinator, Vice President of Bradley's Activity Council, member of the Bradley Orchestra and more.
McGiles is also a Tennis Club four-time intramural singles champion and this year's Homecoming King. Even with his high involvement in campus organizations and beyond, he has remained focused on academics, as he's been recognized on Bradley's Dean's List on multiple semesters. Currently, McGiles is applying to dental schools and has already had his first interview.
To honor McGiles and all of the selected students, a pre-recorded ceremony via Zoom will take place mid-November. The 46th annual Lincoln Academy Student Laureate virtual ceremony will recognize excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities by seniors from each of the state’s four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities and one student from the community colleges in Illinois. It will also include a congratulatory statement by Governor J. B. Pritzker, the President of the Lincoln Academy. This Zoom production will be available for viewing on November 10 at www.thelincolnacademyofillinois.org.
