As BUPD continues to investigate this evening’s threat against the campus, you will notice an increased police presence in and around the area this evening. The time of the threat, as indicated on the note, has passed, but police will remain in the area for precautionary measures.

We want to reiterate that threats such as this will not be tolerated. Those responsible will be prosecuted to the fullest extent. The investigation will continue, and if you have any information on this incident, please call Bradley police at 309-677-2000 or Peoria police at 309-673-4521.

At this time, you are encouraged to return to your regular routine, but as always, remain vigilant.

Original Alert - 4:08 p.m. CST

Bradley has been made aware of a potential threat to campus. A handwritten note was found in a restroom in Olin Hall this afternoon, threatening violence this evening in that building. Police are investigating this issue, and we want you to rest assured that this threat is being taken seriously.

BUPD is investigating the matter and at this time has not determined it to be a credible threat. Still, in light of incidences of campus violence happening around the country, we must take this seriously and err on the side of caution.

With that said, Bradley University has engaged Peoria Police and other local law enforcement agencies, and there will be an increased police presence on campus this evening. Police will be posted at each entry of Olin Hall to check bags and personal belongings of all who enter. Classes across campus will continue as scheduled this evening.

Safety is of the utmost importance on our campus, and threats like this will not be tolerated. Those involved in such threats will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Please remain vigilant and report anything suspicious or concerning to BUPD immediately. The safety of the Bradley family is paramount on this campus.
