The Bradley University Board of Trustees is designating $100,000 of the existing endowment to set up two scholarship to honor former board chair and local business leader, Doug Stewart.

The scholarships will be designated to members of the Fellows program within the Lewis J. Burger Center for Student Leadership and Service. There are 15 entering freshmen who are selected to be part of the 4-year Fellows program where each member is involved in the leadership components of an organization and completes 40 hours each semester of volunteer service at a single agency/location.

Doug Stewart served as chair of the Board of Trustees at Bradley from August 2014 to February 2018 and has been on the Board since 2003. He received his MBA from Bradley in 1979 and recently retired as PNC Bank's Regional President for Central Illinois. In addition to his volunteer work in education, Doug has worked closely with the Children’s Home, the Bielfeldt Foundation, OSF Healthcare System, the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Heart of Illinois United Way, Salvation Army, and the CEO Council.

The scholarships will be given annually to junior or senior Fellows who have excelled both in the service and volunteer requirements of the organization. The recipients will be designated as the Stewart Fellows and their scholarship awards will be the highest scholarship award that any of the Burger Center fellows receive.
