Tom is the graphic design manager in the marketing and communications department. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Western Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Communication from Illinois State University at Springfield.
While earning his Master’s degree, he interned with the State of Illinois, Department of Corrections. There he was graphic designer with the primary responsibility of producing catalogs featuring prison-made products. He also worked part-time at a small ad agency which turned into a full-time job upon graduation. Over the course of his time there he did everything from producing mechanical art for printed pieces to developing comprehensive promotional campaigns. He also worked on his first Macintosh computer and was a beta tester of early software.
He then took a full-time job as graphic designer with Illinois State University. There he worked in the office of publications producing university publications such as department brochures, course catalogs, and a monthly theatre magazine.
After moving to Peoria, he was very involved with the Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair. Early on, he produced all the promotional materials for the fair. He most enjoyed bringing the community mural to life and headed the subcommittee for 11 years.
