All incoming art and design First-year initially enter the program on the BA/BS pathway. However, at approximately week 9 of their Spring semester, all students are required to submit a digital portfolio of their work for review. Art and design faculty will evaluate, then approve/sign off on students progressing onto the BFA pathway with their declared concentration, and counsel those students who may be required to remain on the BS/BA pathway, or need to be advised towards a different art and design concentration, or perhaps even an alternative area of study.

This class builds on the foundation laid by ART233. It focuses less on tools, and more on advanced storytelling concepts, both visual and textual, and production. The creative work in this class will be mostly prompt-based, but there will be more self-directed work on multi-page projects. There will be one collaborative project. Students can choose project-to-project whether to work in ink or digitally. Students will also spend some time honing their draftsmanship to expand their ability to communicate through gesture, expression, and environment. We will also take a look at InDesign for lettering. Bradley’s graphic design program successfully prepares you for a career or graduate school. In recent years, almost all students found employment or continued their education within six months of graduation. They’re working for the Chicago Bears, advertising firm BBDO, branding agency Roundhouse in Portland, Oregon, and companies in New Zealand and Japan. Others are attending graduate school at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ohio State University, West Virginia University and Rhode Island School of Design.
