Bradley’s creative writing program harnesses your imaginative spirit to be a versatile writer with the ability to flourish in creative, professional and nonprofit sectors.
Bradley’s creative writing program adds study of fiction, poetry, nonfiction and screenwriting to a foundation of literature analysis. The creative writing courses are limited to 15 students to encourage dialogue. Bradley alumni who work in the Hollywood entertainment industry help teach courses in screenwriting. You explore careers through a senior research project that blends your academic background and professional hopes. Beyond the classroom, you can participate in writing competitions throughout the year, join the English honor society or contribute to Bradley’s student-produced literary magazine and newspaper. You also have opportunities to publish in national journals and reviews.
Bradley’s creative writing program successfully prepares you to enter the workforce or graduate school. In recent years, most students found jobs or continued their education within six months of graduation. They’re working at places such as United Way, AmeriCorps and ConAgra Foods. Others are attending graduate schools at institutions such as the University of Illinois, Ohio State University and the University of Iowa.
