Advocacy Posters on Display at Heuser Art Center

Grad student and Communications Instructor, Paige Dean, has unveiled four large-format advocacy posters that are on display until Dec. 15 at the Heuser Art Center Gallery. As a grad student in visual communications, she is studying the long-term effects of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and is an advocate for CSA prevention.

“This particular project was a huge undertaking this semester, and I am incredibly proud of the results. I have had the pleasure of working very closely with the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, including having been certified as an advocate after a 63-hour training over the summer,” Dean explained. “We need to talk more openly about the staggering statistics revolving around CSA."

The primary goal of the poster project is CSA awareness, however, Dean also hopes the posters encourage victims of CSA to report abuse, educate adults to watch for signs of abuse, and promote communication about the topic.

She has been teaching layout and design to advertising and public relations students for the last seven years at Bradley, and has more than 20 years of experience in the communications and advertising industry.
