8:00 a.m. Class 1101– More with Mo (Julie Gianessi)
Get ready for a week of books by Mo Willems! He is a Caldecott Honor Award winner, famous for creating Piggy and Elephant. After diving into his books, it is easy to see why! We’ll meet some of his other delightful characters, like Pigeon, Leonardo, and more. Join us as we read, write, and create. We will also have fun completing adventures and STEM challenges, Mo Willems style!
Join the fun as we sketch, draw, and design our way through a week of STEM activities. We will explore the science of sound, and drum up STEM challenges. We’ll experiment with popsicle sticks to construct geometric shapes to find out which designs work best. Plus we will use pattern block logic puzzles to stimulate our mathematical thought processes. This class will allow students to develop critical thinking skills and have a STEMtastic time as they do it!
1:30 p.m. Class 1103 – Bugs, Bugs, Bugs (Christy Gardner)
Looking for all Entomologists! Do you like creepy, crawly insects? We will study how these creatures move, eat, live, and survive. Each day we will take a closer look at different species. We will learn about ants, bees, roly polies, caterpillars, and grasshoppers, and create art projects, go on bug hunts, and act like bugs. Let’s “bug out” together on our journey to study insects that can be found all around us.
