The Bradley Advantage

You can study for a career in advertising, journalism, corporate communications, public relationssports communication or television production through the communication department, which is part of the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts. Advertising and public relations majors require senior projects in which you compete for a cash prize or trip to New York City. If you’re interested in the entertainment industry, you can spend a semester in Hollywood mingling with stars while studying the industry. Beyond the classroom, you can participate in the most successful speech team in America, professional associations and student-run media. You also can take advantage of unique expedition courses to Hollywood, New York and Las Vegas. Additionally, you can intern locally in Peoria’s health care industry, world headquarters for Caterpillar and Maui Jim, media outlets, marketing firms and nonprofit organizations. National internship opportunities include the Chicago Auto Show and NBC Sports’ Olympics productions.

Successful Outcomes

Bradley’s communication degrees successfully prepare you to enter the workforce or attend graduate school. In recent years, almost all Bradley students found employment or continued their education within six months of graduation. They’re working across the U.S. for the Boy Scouts, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, NFL Network, SC Johnson and Sons and TCF Bank. Others are attending graduate school at the University of Illinois, Northwestern University and the University of Washington.

Peoria

Bradley and Peoria share much in common--a diverse population, world-class research facilities, outstanding fine arts and entertainment, and a great sense of community. In this regard, Peoria simultaneously offers the urban benefits of a big city and the personality of a small town.
