BUnetID

What is my BUnetID?


How do I get (activate) my BUnetID?
When you receive your account activation letter with your BUnetID and activation code, go to our Account Activation Website (link below) to activate your account.  International Students should go to the Graduate School office to obtain your account activation letter. In the activation process, you will be required to answer two (2) secret questions for future security purposes. You will also be asked to create a password for verification when you access your account(s) on campus. Be very cautious in choosing a password and never share your password with your friends. Following are guidelines for choosing a password. If you lose your activation letter, you can go to Morgan Hall room 205 to request another. You must provide a government-issued photo ID to receive an activation letter.

How do I change or reset my password online?

You can manage your BUnetID through Bradley's MyBU portal. Your BUnetID password will expire every 90 days and you will be directed to the portal to change your password. For complete instructions to manage your BUnetID and password, visit the Technology HelpDesk Account Management website (http://helpdesk.bradley.edu/accounts).

DO NOT SHARE your password. We recommend changing your password frequently to ensure that your account is secure.


B-Mail

B-Mail is a Google-based electronic mail client, providing more than 2GB of storage space, improved organization features, calendar options to organize your schedule and share events with your family and friends, a one-click chat, and many more exciting new features.

Your B-Mail address is yourBUnetID@mail.bradley.edu (e.g. Elton John would be ejohn@mail.bradley.edu).   You will automatically be set up with a B-Mail account when you activate your BUnetID. You can access your B-Mail through the MyBU portal or through any Web browser at http://mail.bradley.edu. You are responsible for all official correspondence received via your B-Mail account. It is strongly suggested that you check this account on a regular basis.

BLACKBOARD

The Blackboard Learning System™ is a world-class software application for institutions dedicated to teaching and learning via the internet. Intuitive and easy-to-use, this product has powerful capabilities in three key areas: Instruction, Communication and Assessment.

How do I get into Blackboard? Where can I get more information about Blackboard (i.e. username, password, how to use it, etc.)?  Go to the Bradley Blackboard Website (http://blackboard.bradley.edu) for answers to your Blackboard questions including what is my username and password.


RESPONSIBLE COMPUTING

Are you planning to bring a laptop to campus? If so, we recommend that you protect your computer from viruses, spyware, compromised passwords, crashed hard drive, etc. Many of us have had a negative computing experience that could have been prevented. Often, when a computer system or account is left "unprotected," the resulting damage can affect others as well. By following a few simple guidelines, you can greatly increases your chances of avoiding problems of this type in the future. We have provided step-by-step instructions to secure your computer, install free anti-virus and spyware software, and ensure that your computer is secure on our network.

Bradley University provides Symantec Norton Anti-Virus (NAV) for all students to use while they are students at the University. If you already have Anti-virus software on your computer, you may wish to install our software as you will not be required to pay for upgrades. It is important, however, that you uninstall your own software prior to installing NAV. Go to our Responsible Computing website now to secure YOUR computer.


COMPUTER SALES

Will it be necessary to bring my own computer when I am on campus?  The Cullom Davis Library has a public lab with laptops, Windows and Macintosh desktop computers available for your use. Interested in purchasing a laptop to bring with me to campus?  Bradley has partnered with Dell, Apple and journeyEd software to offer educational discounts for hardware and software purchases.  All students, faculty/staff and Alumni qualify for these exceptional discounts. FAQ's

I ALREADY HAVE ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTER. DO I HAVE TO INSTALL NORTON PROVIDED BY BU?

You can use any Anti-Virus software, provided that updates remain current. However, if you use the Norton Anti-Virus provided by BU you will not have to pay for upgrades, etc. as long as you are a student at Bradley.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DON’T FOLLOW THE BU SECURITY RECOMMENDATIONS?

If inappropriate network activity is observed by our Network Engineers, your computer may be placed in Quarantine and you will be required to perform all of the security measures and have it verified at the HelpDesk prior to obtaining access to the network. Please read our Virus Protection Policy for more information.

WHAT IS THE COST FOR USING THE NETWORK?

There is no charge to access the network.

The TECHNOLOGY HELPDESK provides a single point of contact for all technical needs on campus. You can visit the HelpDesk in the Library public computer lab, or call to speak with a consultant at (309)677-2964.
