General Emergency Preparedness
foreWarn Emergency Alert System
Bradley University’s foreWarn emergency notification system is designed to provide information about an immediate, actively occurring, and confirmed emergency situation on campus (or an actively occurring threat that’s heading towards campus) that requires the community to take immediate action in order to stay safe. Depending on the exact nature of the situation, the system may utilize one or many of the components described below:
We have partnered with Regroup, a top-rated, cloud-based mass notification platform used globally to enhance emergency communications. Regroup will power our foreWarn alert system, making it more efficient and reliable. All foreWarn emergency text messages will arrive from the shortcode 31002, 31098, 31389, 50753, 58847, 66219, or 66893 and will start with “foreWarn.”

Emergency Operations Plan
One measure of an organization’s strength is its ability to respond well in an emergency. Since every scenario cannot be predicted, an emergency response plan must be able to quickly adapt to events as they unfold. This plan designates areas of responsibility and defines for Bradley University the administrative framework necessary to respond to emergency situations. This plan is tailored to respond to campus emergencies. It is divided into two sections – administrative framework and response framework. It is imperative that individual departments develop response plans for situations that may develop under their purview. The University response needs to be quick, professional, supportive, and meet the emerging demands of any emergency or crisis situation.
Classroom Alerts Policy
Effective August 26, 2008, all faculty or staff must:
These phones must be registered with the University text messaging system to receive emergency alerts. Phones can be on vibrate in class as long as they can receive a text message. If you have not done so already, you can register at MyBU.
This policy is being instituted so that every classroom in every building will have access to the University text messaging system whenever a class is in session. The emergency text messaging system will be used when there is a danger to the campus or to test the system.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact your Dean.
