About

Interdisciplinary studies integrates insights from multiple disciplines to address pressing, complex problems and difficult questions.

Interdisciplinary activities at Bradley University involve:

  • Connecting knowledge, standards and perspectives from two or more disparate fields of study to explore broad themes or complex problems.
  • Adapting and applying skills, abilities, theories or methodologies gained from two or more disparate fields of study to create a deeper understanding of a complex topic or solve complex problems.

The FIRE program provides community and support for first year students from all majors.

The program goal is to integrate each student’s first-year experience with academic and social opportunities. The opportunities are designed to build connections and community and foster academic success.

A faculty mentor, Dr. Valerie San Juan, has an office in the residence hall and has regular office hours throughout the week for students to drop in. The faculty mentor helps connect first-year students with campus resources, provides informal advising, and helps bridge academic life with living on campus.

The FIRE program is in University Hall and will be enrolling first-year students for Fall 2026.
