Bradley University’s America Reads Tutoring Program was established in 1997 with the goal to ensure that every child who participates can read well and independently. The program, in association with community organizations, reaches students throughout the city of Peoria and surrounding areas, providing free tutoring for each child as they partner with Bradley University undergraduate students. Our program is available to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Tutoring currently takes place during three sessions, held Monday through Thursday afternoons, in Burgess Hall on the Bradley University campus.
Families, guardians, and/or instructors of the children are encouraged to send along notes with the children providing guidance and topics for focus areas during the sessions. Summary sheets will be sent home after each session explaining what was covered and mentioning any standout moments to track progress.
