From the Mona Lisa to contemporary street art, this course explores a wide range of art in one of the most vibrant artistic centers in the world, Paris! Concepts discussed include the themes and purposes of art, the lives of artists, the vocabulary of art, composition and principles of design. By journey's end, you'll confidently discuss different kinds of art, identify artists and materials, navigate museums, and be able to express your insights creatively through various forms of writing.
Art 494 (WI) This course is available to Studio Art majors and minors, Art History majors and minors, as well as Art Education majors. It offers an expanded exploration of the visual arts in Paris, with flexibility to cater to your individual interests and area of study. This course delves into the intricate relationship between writing and art making, enhancing your comprehension and practice in both disciplines. Through various written exercises and assignments, you will gain more experience in expressing and explaining key elements of artistic production and visual creativity.

Art, fashion, literature, medicine, and science: Paris is home to hundreds of museums, galleries, cemeteries, and historic districts. Come explore the city, inside and out, and learn about new professions connected to emerging interdisciplinary fields of museum studies and public history.

  ENG 302 Travel Writing (W2)

Paris, city of romance, known for its fashion, food, and culture—what could be a better place to develop your skills as a travel writer? Join us on class excursions as we sample the food, visit the city’s art museums and iconic landmarks, and explore some of its famous neighborhoods. In this class you will use your experiences and curiosity as a traveler to write engaging essays and narratives that include and combine research, analysis, and critical reflection. Prerequisites: ENG 101 or CIV 111-112 and junior standing.

All classes have enrollment maximums, so register early if you want to be enrolled! (Students who need to be wait-listed will be informed.) Classes are also contingent on enrollment minimums in order to proceed (another reason to register early!)

A non-refundable $500 deposit required to secure your registration, due no later than Monday, April 22, 2024.Then, a $1000 payment is due by Friday, May 17, 2024. A payment of 50% of the remaining balance($1500) is due by Monday, September 2, 2024. The final balance($1500) is due by Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Bills will be available online at mybradley.bradley. A participant missing payment will be dropped from the program.

You will receive information during the registration period about deadlines for required documents, the mandatory student program orientation in November, and other program information. (If you do not currently have a valid passport, apply now!) *Students enrolled in a Bradley sponsored Study Abroad program may be eligible for Financial Aid. We encourage you to contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.

NOTE: A minimum 2.50 Bradley GPA is required to study abroad. Participating students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing and submit a Medical Clearance Form signed by Bradley University’s health services or your general practitioner.
