Springer Center for Internships

With the establishment of the Springer Center for Internships in 2008, Bradley University and the Smith Career Center rededicated their commitment to providing students with opportunities for career-related work experience. The Springer Center for Internships provides resources to help students secure meaningful internships, co-operative education, and part-time jobs.

An internship is a practical work experience relevant to your career field or industry, that allows you to apply classroom knowledge, academic principles, and essential skills. It is a single, planned experience and its duration may be one semester, a summer, or any length of time agreed upon between you, the employer, and your Career Advisor.

Internships may be paid or unpaid and the student may receive academic credit with approval from your Career Advisor.

An internship can be an excellent way for a student to obtain professional work experience and make useful contacts in a given field, increasing their chance of obtaining desirable employment after graduation.

Registered internships and cooperative education are officially noted on your transcript. You can typically register your cooperative education or internships for 0 – 3 credit hours per semester. Registering for 0 credit hours allows the course to be transcripted without cost.

Once you have obtained your internship, complete the New Experience registration form within Bradley netWORK. Prior to submitting the registration, read the Student Agreement at the top of that page. Upon submitting your registration, schedule a meeting with your Career Advisor to complete the process.

It’s important to remember that internships must be registered prior to, or within the first few weeks of, the semester during which you are conducting your internship. Retrospective internship registrations are not permitted.

Yes! Meet with your Career Advisor at the beginning of your internship search process to discuss this.
